Iiri Poteri (b.1992) is a Helsinki-based visual artist working with
performance, video and photography. She often appears in her own
works, using her body and its representations as an artistic tool. In
her artistic practice, Poteri is drawn to themes of vulnerability,
immediacy and interaction, which in her works become a way of
examining the relationship between the artwork and its audience.
Poteri holds a
Master of Fine Arts degree (Academy of Fine Arts, 2021), and her
works have been presented in group and solo exhibitions in Finland
and internationally, with upcoming participation in the Young Artists
2026 exhibiton (Kunsthalle Helsinki). In addition, she was an invited
artist of the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation in Rovaniemi (2024),
and through the Fair Sculpture artist residency program, she worked
as a visual artist at Matinkylä Upper Secondary School (2024).
Art creates a safe playground for shared moments and exploration,
especially through the artwork between the artist and the audience.
We need more of those spaces where confrontation, listening, and
surprise can happen.
